I LOVE PROOFREADING!

I've always been a word nerd, always loved seeing, reading, and hearing good sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Drove my friends nuts that besides being such a crazy bookworm, I also corrected any of the above--even when I was too young to really know what I was talking about.

I started writing in grade school and kept it up until my divorce. Then my time was completely immersed in Nursing School. Of course, I had to write papers, revise them, proofread them--and do the same to my classmates who didn't like writing as much as I did and were therefore not good at it.

I remarried some years later, loved that the man I loved wanted me to write. So I dabbled. I was serious but didn't take myself seriously. We had EIGHT children. Between working full-time nightshift, a huge two-story house, a huge yard/garden, and the needs of eight children and a husband, I didn't have much time to write. I still helped others with everything from term papers to advertising, and I helped fellow nurses with patient charting that was more precise, including with punctuation, etc., that attorneys would have no beef with them if there was ever a problem.

Serious writing for me waited until the youngest was out of the house, and we moved. I found writing groups and conferences in our new state, and it was a new life for me. I not only learned so much about writing and how to put my ideas down, but I found friends to form a reading group with me.

Now, years later, I've been through a number of writing groups, and we've moved more than once or twice. I've beta-read and proofread a lot of books for a lot writers, am beta-reading now for very successful author, a new author, a repeat author, and also proofreading for the new author. What a delight! It is so much fun to polish someone's finished work and have it ready to publish.

So if you ever wonder why I take a long time to post, this explains it. I proofread my work, too, and sometimes it is a real challenge.

If you know anyone who needs a proofreader, just send me a note and I'll get back to you or them.

Thanks!

Susan
